Upbeat Music School Terms and Conditions
Term dates:
Teaching weeks at Upbeat Music School roughly adhere to the Aberdeen City Council School Terms.
At all times it is the responsibility of the student to be aware of the first and last dates of term at Upbeat Music School.
Communication:
All correspondence is sent out to the student by email. If this causes a problem, please let Upbeat Music School know.
It is the responsibility of the student to make Upbeat Music School aware of any changes to their contact details. Upbeat Music School will not be held responsible for any missed communications, late / overdue payments, missed lessons, etc. if this is due to incorrect contact information.
If you notice something incorrect e.g. lesson details or account details, it is not meant offensively. In these cases please let us know via email to info@upbeatmusicschool.co.uk so we can rectify the situation as soon as possible.
Billing:
Upbeat Music School starts following up fees with an assumption of good faith that it is an unintentional mistake.
The annual membership can be paid in a single lump sum or in 11 monthly instalments.
The billing period for the membership will commence in August and will continue for ten consecutive months, concluding in June of the following year. Please note that the membership will be inactive for the month of July, with no charges applied during this period.
Upbeat Music School’s bank details are – Liam Bowie 04-00-04 46528287 . Please use the surname of the guardian that is the main point of contact with us and the invoice number (found at the top of the Upbeat Music School invoice) as a reference.
Upbeat Music School prefers online / Internet banking payments.
New students will receive an invoice when their enrolment is processed.
If the student commences lessons part way through a month, the remainder of that month will be billed in full and payment must be received within one week of the invoice being issued.
Upon enrolment a student or guardian/caregiver of the student will be set up with a Student/Parent Portal log in. All term fee invoices, payments and lesson details are accessible there.
Debt collection/suspension policy:
Upbeat Music School does reserve the right to temporarily and fully suspend students from lessons with unpaid fees during term time. A temporary suspension means that Upbeat Music School will keep the lesson time slot available for the student in the hopes that payment will be made. A full suspension means that Upbeat Music School has the right to fill the students' lesson time slot with another student from the waitlist.
Cancellation process:
Should you decide to terminate lessons, either permanently or temporarily, Upbeat Music School requires notice of 30 days prior to the anticipated end date.
Verbal notice given to the tutor will not be acted upon and is not considered sufficient unless confirmed in writing to Upbeat Music School by the student or their parent/carer.
Exceptions on medical grounds may be made to this as decided by Upbeat Music School management.
If, in exceptional circumstances, Upbeat Music School has to cancel the student’s lesson due to damage of Upbeat Music School property or harassment of Upbeat Music School staff by the student, this may be done with no notice and no credit or refund for any outstanding lessons.
The student has the legal right to cancel an agreement with Upbeat Music School within the "cooling off period" as outlined in the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. During this period, which starts from the date of the first lesson and lasts for 14 days, the student can choose to cancel the agreement by notifying Upbeat Music School in writing. Upon cancellation, the student will receive a refund for any lessons paid for but not received prior to the cancellation.
Absences from students:
While we understand that life happens, you will get the most out of your lessons with us by attending regularly. However, if you need to miss a class or lesson, see our policy below:
If the student is unable to attend a lesson please let Upbeat Music School know at the earliest time possible by cancelling the lesson through the MyMusicStaff Student/Parent portal. This information will be passed on to the relevant tutor(s) - you are welcome to make direct contact with the tutors as well if you choose to.
We do not offer makeup classes for group classes because every group is working on different material. However, you will receive a lesson report on MyMusicStaff for the missed class from your teacher – so you can see what the class worked on and any suggestions for practising before the next class.
For missed private lessons, the teacher will supply a customised Home Study lesson on MyMusicStaff for the student to work on at their convenience.
Absences from teachers:
The student’s tutor will arrange private catch up lessons with the student at a time that suits both parties and is agreed upon in advance.
Sickness
Customers and staff will be asked to refrain from coming to lessons if in any way unwell during any Government mandated restrictions. No refund or credit will be given if a student is not attending or asked to leave if at all unwell.
Timetabling & changes:
The student will be informed of the lesson day, time and the date of their first lesson before their teaching commences, either by phone, in person or by email. Upbeat Music School will aim to confirm all the lesson details by email, but does not guarantee that this will be the case if it deems sufficient confirmation has been provided by other means.
If the agreed lesson times or days need to be changed, the student will be contacted as far in advance as possible and alternative arrangements will be made to continue the lessons at times and days that suit the student and Upbeat Music School.
Rolling enrolment:
The lesson agreement between Upbeat Music School and the student is a rolling agreement that continues into each new term and new year.
The students are emailed their invoices monthly in respect of the following month’s membership, until a cancellation notice is received, as discussed above.
We consider any absence from scheduled lessons or events longer than four weeks as a cancellation of lessons, even if for a long holiday and standard re enrolment rules apply.
Photo/Video policy:
Upbeat Music School may use film or still photographs of students for appropriate promotional purposes.
You (or your parents if you are under 18 years of age) must inform Upbeat Music School in writing at any time if you will not allow the use of such images.
Changes to the Terms and Conditions:
The Terms and Conditions described above are agreed to upon enrollment and may be changed at any point by Upbeat Music School without providing notice to the student. A copy of the Terms and Conditions will always be available on our website and may be emailed to the student on request.
At Upbeat Music School, we understand that life can get complicated. We also know that successful and fulfilling musical and performing arts & entertainment studies depend on regular commitment. That’s why we’ve designed our policies to give you as much flexibility as possible while still promoting consistency.
Our teachers reserve time on their schedules, plan for your classes and lessons, and invest in the long-term development of each student. To provide consistent, fun & inspirational learning and event experiences, the following policies need to be observed.
