Where the Music Comes to Life

Every membership includes access to events — from live band weeks to professional studio recordings. Here’s a glimpse of what our students get to experience.

Band Week at Upbeat

Students take the songs they’ve been learning in lessons and bring them to life in a full band setting. At Band Week, they get the chance to rehearse, jam, and perform together in a professional studio — experiencing what it’s really like to be in a band.

Live at York Street Studio

At our Recording Recital, every student gets the chance to perform live in a professional studio. Here’s Eva, one of our students, performing Ho Hey — captured in both high-quality audio and video so families can relive the moment again and again

FAQs

  • Book a 30 minute trial through the forms on this website. Parents are encouraged to sit in on the trial lesson to meet the tutor. We will have a chat about your favourite music, the songs you’re excited to play first, and the kind of guitarist you want to be. We will then immediately get you playing the guitar so that you have something to play at home - even if you decide not to continue taking lessons.

  • Lessons start at age 6, with no upper limit—it’s never too late.

  • Your weekly lesson plus all of the events throughout the year, including Jam Sessions, Band Jams, and Live Recording Sessions—no extra fees.

  • Lessons run August–June (46 teaching weeks). We pause weekly lessons during event weeks, and we’re off for the October, Winter and Spring holidays in line with Aberdeen City Schools. July is a holiday month with no charge.

  • Absolutely. I can share photos/videos privately with your family and won’t post anything without permission.

  • Life happens! Your membership keeps things simple: one flat monthly price covering lessons and events. If you miss a week, we don’t reschedule or credit, but we’ll pick up right where we left off at your next lesson. If a tutor ever has to cancel, the price of one week of the membership will be deducted from the next invoice.
